Automatically detecting the sound of applause in concerts to identify songs in the Montreux Jazz Festival digital archive.
Due to the large amount of digitized recordings in the Montreux Jazz Festival archive, listening to each concert and identifying each song is a rather time consuming task. Therefore the automation of this process can save considerable time and cost. As a result, the LEMA lab at EPFL has developed an audio processing algorithm to automatically detect applause and songs in concerts for playback of individual tracks at a later stage.
